Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes: 'Rangers talk a sideshow'

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes will not allow speculation with the Rangers job to distract him from this weekend's meeting between the two sides.

Derek McInnes has insisted that he is fully focused on Aberdeen and will not be distracted by talk of taking over at managerless Rangers.

The 46-year-old has stated once already that he is happy at Pittodrie, while chairman Stewart Milne categorically ruled out an exit during the season.

However, McInnes remains favourite to succeed Pedro Caixinha, who was given his marching orders more than a month ago following a run of 14 wins in 26 matches since taking charge.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's meeting between the two sides, McInnes told reporters: "Things get magnified by others but we are the professionals and we get on with the job.

"It's always about the game. We just look at the next opponent. Everything else is a sideshow for everyone else to talk about."

McInnes, also linked with the West Bromwich Albion job earlier this month, was appointed Aberdeen manager in March 2013.
