Preview: Aberdeen vs. Ross County - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Scottish Premiership clash between Aberdeen and Ross County, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Aberdeen's search for their first win of the season will continue when they host Ross County in their latest Scottish Premiership fixture on Sunday.

While the Dons find themselves in the relegation zone, the visitors are currently sixth in the table and head in the game on the back of a two-match run without a loss.

This season has proven to be a very difficult one for Aberdeen so far, with the Dons having failed to win a single match in the league, which has left the club in 11th place.

Only goal difference is keeping them above the bottom of the division due to the fact they have scored more goals, even though Barry Robson's men have only scored three times so far.

Aberdeen have picked up two points so far this season, but neither of those draws took place at home, which is something that they need to change to try and begin building some momentum.

The Dons do come into this game having kick-started their Europa Conference League campaign in midweek, but that did not prove to be a positive distraction as Robson did not guide his team to a win.

Even though Dante Polvara scored an equaliser in the first half Aberdeen were not able to cling onto a point as they were ultimately defeated 2-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt.

The fact that the visitors did not have a midweek game is something that could benefit Ross County in terms of fitness, with their most recent fixture taking place last weekend.

Malky Mackay's men shared the points against Livingston in that match as Simon Murray's goal was not enough as Bruce Anderson scored for the Lions in the 72nd minute.

The point helped take Ross County into sixth place, and they will now be aware that a victory this weekend could potentially take them into third place depending on other results.

The Staggies have only played twice away from home this season with very contrasting performances that resulted in one victory and one defeat, with the club now searching for consistency.

Mackay will be wary of the fact they need to tighten up at the back though, particularly because they are currently on -1 goal difference.

Team News

Polvara and Jack MacKenzie were both brought into the Aberdeen starting lineup in midweek, and the two of them could retain their place in the team.

Bojan Miovski has found the back of the net twice already this season in the SPL, and he is expected to lead the line this weekend.

Ross County are currently without both Ben Paton and Ross Callachan due to knee injuries, which is something that the Staggies have had to get used to.

Josh Sims and Eamonn Brophy were both used as substitutes in their most recent game, but both men could be in contention to feature this weekend.

Aberdeen possible starting lineup:
Roos; MacDonald, Rubezic, Jensen; Devlin, Barron, Shinnie, Polvara; McGrath; Miovski, Duk

Ross County possible starting lineup:
Laidlaw; Nightingale, Baldwin, Leak; Brown, Turner, Randall, Dhanda, Reid; White, Murray

We say: Aberdeen 0-2 Ross County

Aberdeen might boast the home advantage for this match, but they will not walk in as the favorites due to their difficult start to the season.

The visitors have been playing well this season, and that should lead to Ross County taking all three points this weekend.
