Kevin-Prince Boateng believes that Massimiliano Allegri can guide AC Milan to the Serie A title next season if he stays in charge.

AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has backed under-fire coach Massimiliano Allegri as speculation regarding his future at the San Siro increases.

A disappointing first half of the season saw Diavolo struggling in midtable, when the 45-year-old's position was under heavy scrutiny. However, a resurgence in form has seen them lose just once since the winter break and catapult them up Serie A.

The Rossoneri can secure Champions League football with victory at Siena in their final game on Sunday, but some reports have suggested that Allegri may still be axed as manager.

Boateng said that firing the Italian would be a mistake and believes that he can lead them to championship glory next year.

"He did great work in these three years and needs to stay," Boateng told fans on Google Hangout. "In my view, there cannot be a Milan without Allegri.

"Next year we have to do better, as there were so many new players this time. We need to work together so we can win the Scudetto."

Allegri joined the Rossoneri from Cagliari in 2010 and led them to the title in his first season in charge.
