Marcello Lippi rules out AC Milan job

Marcello Lippi rules himself out of the running for Filippo Inzaghi's AC Milan job, stating that he has "no interest" in returning to club football.

World Cup-winning manager Marcello Lippi has ruled himself out of the running to take over at AC Milan, saying he has "no interest" in returning to club football.

Current Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi is under fire after only managing to guide the Rossoneri to 10th in Serie A this season.

However, former Juventus boss Lippi, who helped the Turin-based club win the Champions League, retired last year and is only looking for a return to international management.

"I don't think that I will coach another club in the future. Actually, I can rule that out completely," the 66-year-old said, according to Goal.com.

"No, there is nothing [in suggestions I could join Milan]. I would consider a technical director role if it was offered to me, but as of today I've had no contact with anyone.

"I would like to work with an ambitious national team. In the meantime, I'll enjoy this coming summer without working, get some rest and then return fired up. In September or October I will assess my options and then decide."

Lippi won the AFC Champions League with Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande in 2013, and previously won five Serie A titles during his managerial career.
