AC Milan lost their grip on the top spot in Serie A following tonight's 0-0 draw against Fiorentina.
The retaining Italian champions created the majority of the chances in Florence, with Clarence Seedorf and Alberto Aquilani both missing chances during the opening 45 minutes.
Fiorentina came out with more attacking intention after the break, with former Milan striker Alberto Gilardino going close after 55 minutes.
Alexandre Pato came off the bench for Milan and the switch almost worked late in the match, but his effort flew just wide of the upright.
