Agent: 'Paolo Cannavaro rejected AC Milan move'

Paolo Cannavaro turned down the chance to swap Napoli for AC Milan before the end of the summer transfer window, according to his agent.

The agent of Napoli defender Paolo Cannavaro has revealed that his client rejected the chance to join AC Milan on transfer deadline day.

The 32-year-old has spent the opening weeks of the season on the bench for the Serie A side, but Gaetano Fedele has claimed that the Italian centre-back wants to become "an integral part of the project" with Rafael Benitez's side.

"There was an offer from Milan which was to exchange Paolo for Cristian Zaccardo. However, Paolo wanted to remain a Napoli player and we hope he can become an integral part of the project," Fedele told ITA Sport Press.

Cannavaro joined Napoli from Parma in 2006.
