League Two roundup: Rochdale, Scunthorpe United promoted

Rochdale and Scunthorpe United are promoted from League Two as Torquay United are finally relegated despite winning 3-1.

Rochdale and Scunthorpe United will play their football in League One next season despite differing results for the sides on a busy day in League Two.

Dale were assured of promotion as Peter Vincenti and Ian Henderson scored early in their win over Cheltenham Town and Spotland.

Scunny were less assured as they lost their unbeaten record at Exeter City, who won 2-0 and are now certain to avoid relegation.

Morecambe are also safe in the division for next season after a comfortable victory away to AFC Wimbledon, with Jack Redshaw, Jamie Devitt and Padraig Amond all on the scoresheet.

Northampton Town moved out of the bottom two places with a 3-0 victory away to Dagenham & Redbridge, with 18-year-old Ivan Toney scoring twice for the Cobblers.

Torquay United, however, have been relegated from the Football League despite winning 3-1 away to Mansfield Town.

The Devon side's fate was sealed by Bristol Rovers securing a late victory at Wycombe Wanderers.

Elsewhere, Hallam Hope's hat-trick for Bury was still enough for the Shakers to earn a win over Portsmouth as the sides played out a 4-4 draw.

Oxford United's faint hopes of reaching the playoffs were ended after they fell to defeat at home to Accrington Stanley, thanks to goals from Kayode Odejayi and James Gray.

York City secured a playoff place themselves after a narrow victory over Newport County at Bootham Crescent, with Michael Coulson netting the winner.

Manchester United loanee Jack Barmby scored a second-half equaliser for Hartlepool United as they earned a point at Plymouth Argyle.
