Scottish League One roundup: Leaders Stranraer return to winning ways

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's Scottish League One action as Stranraer record a victory over Ayr United to remain three points clear at the top of the table.

Scottish League One leaders Stranraer have returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory away to struggling Ayr United.

Craig Malcolm and Jamie Longworth were on target for the table toppers as they moved three points clear of closest rivals Forfar Athletic, who lost 2-0 at home to Brechin City.

Brechin's win moves them level on points with Dunfermline Athletic in fourth as the Pars were unable to overcome Peterhead at home. Rory McAllister's second-half penalty rescued a point for the visitors.

Greenock Morton missed the opportunity to consolidate their position in the playoff places after crashing to a 1-0 defeat to Airdrieonians, who sealed the points thanks to James Lister's goal in the 47th minute.

Meanwhile, Stenhousemuir's relegation fears remain very much alive after a 2-1 defeat to Stirling Albion left them just three points above second-bottom Ayr.

Results in full: Ayr United 0-2 Stranraer, Dunfermline 1-1 Peterhead, Forfar 0-2 Brechin, Greenock Morton 0-1 Airdrieonians, Stenhousemuir 1-2 Stirling
