Goals in each half from Thomas Kahlenberg and Kevin Berigaud secured victory for Evian TG away at second-bottom Auxerre.
The visitors started brightly and opened the scoring after eight minutes when Cedric Barbosa's cross was volleyed home by Kahlenberg.
Three top saves from keeper Stephan Andersen kept Evian in the lead as Auxerre strived to get back into the match.
However, the points were wrapped up in the last minute when striker Berigaud finished after a lightning-quick counter attack.
Defeat means relegation from Ligue 1 looms large for Auxerre, while Evian remain in 10th.
