Midfielder Christian Poulsen has conceded that his Ajax side must collect a positive result from tonight's clash against AC Milan if they are to stand any chance of reaching the Champions League knockout stages.
The Dutch champions were defeated 4-0 by Barcelona on matchday one last month, while Milan recorded a 2-0 win over Celtic.
As a result, former Liverpool player Poulsen has urged his team to pick up all three points in the Amsterdam ArenA.
"It's hard to make a prediction, but what I do know is that we really need a good result. That's the only way we can achieve something in this group," Poulsen told Goal.com
"If we want to progress, we must beat AC Milan. Getting a good result against Milan also shows that we have ambition."
These two sides last met back in the 2010 group phase, when Ajax claimed a win and a draw.
