Ajax make light work of Cambuur

Second-placed Ajax secure a rampant 3-0 win over a lacklustre Cambuur side in their Eredivisie clash at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Ajax have secured a rampant 3-0 win over lacklustre Cambuur in their Eredivisie clash at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Despite having nothing left to play for this season - out of contention for the title and too far ahead to slip to third - the hosts were dominant and took the lead just before the hour through Viktor Fischer.

The 20-year-old Dane, back from a long-term injury, then added a second in the 62nd minute when he collected Ricardo Kishna's pass before cutting inside and firing home.

Ajax killed the game off seven minutes before time as a curling free kick from Lasse Schone soared past the opposition keeper and into the net.

Frank de Boer's charges remain second in the Eredivisie table, while Cambuur stay in 11th place.
