Al-Nassr allegedly open discussions with Cristiano Ronaldo over a new deal at the club, with the 39-year-old's current terms due to expire next summer.

Al-Nassr have reportedly opened discussions with Cristiano Ronaldo over a new deal at the club.

The 39-year-old famously joined Al-Nassr on a free transfer in January 2023 following the breakdown of his relationship with Manchester United, and he has had a successful period with the Saudi Arabian outfit.

Ronaldo has managed 64 goals in 71 matches for the Saudi Pro League side, in addition to registering 17 assists, and he has again been in impressive form during the current campaign.

The Portugal international has six goals and two assists in seven appearances, with four of his strikes coming in the Saudi Pro League, demonstrating that he remains a hugely impactful player for the club.

Ronaldo's current deal with Al-Nassr is due to expire in June 2025, but according to journalist Nicolo Schira, discussions have been opened over an extension to his current contract.

Schira claims that Ronaldo is determined to represent Portugal at the 2026 World Cup, and he remains a key part of his national side despite the fact that he will be 40 in the early stages of next year.

Ronaldo is the highest men's goalscorer of all time, having managed 903 goals during a staggering career, including 132 in 212 caps for his country, with his international career starting back in 2003.

There were question marks over the forward's decision to move to Saudi Arabia after leaving Man United, but he has continued to score goals at an extremely-impressive rate.

Ronaldo recently admitted that he was unlikely to play for another club team before the end of his career, with the Portuguese expecting to retire once he has departed Al-Nassr.

"I don't know if I will retire soon, in two or three years... but probably I will retire here at Al-Nassr," Ronaldo told NOW. "I'm very happy at this club, I feel good in this country too. I'm happy to play in Saudi Arabia and I want to continue.

"When I leave the national team, I won't tell anyone in advance and it will be a very spontaneous decision on my part, but also a very well thought-out one.

"Right now what I want is to be able to help the national team in their upcoming matches. We have the Nations League ahead of us and I would really like to play. At the moment, I'm not thinking about being a coach of the first team or any team.

"It doesn't even cross my mind, I've never thought about it. I don't see my future going through that. I see myself doing other things outside of football, but only God knows what the future holds."

Ronaldo failed to find the back of the net at Euro 2024, but he did score in both of Portugal's UEFA Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Scotland last month.
