Christian Gourcuff considers future with Algeria?

Algeria manager Christian Gourcuff is considering his future with the Desert Foxes, according to reports.

Algeria manager Christian Gourcuff has returned to France and is reportedly considering resigning from the Desert Foxes.

The 60-year-old has been under intense scrutiny from the media in recent months, and the former Lorient manager openly admitted to reporters last month that he was thinking about his position.

The Frenchman said: "After the game against Senegal [a 1-0 friendly win in October], I had said that there was a possibility for me to be gone in a month's time.

"Right now I am going to take a few days off and think about what I must do. I cannot say if I am going to stay or not, because to take such a decision I first need to meet with the president of the Algerian federation and discuss things with him."

Reports in France have linked Gourcuff with the vacancy at Lille, after the club fired Herve Renard before the international break.

Gourcuff was appointed as head coach of Algeria in 2014 and was handed a new deal back in February, despite the nation's failure to get past the quarter finals of the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
