Scottish League Two roundup: East Fife clinch playoff place

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's Scottish League Two action as East Fife secure the final playoff place with a 3-1 victory over Elgin.

East Fife secured the final Scottish League Two playoff place with a 3-1 victory over Elgin this afternoon.

The Fifers only needed a point, but a Kevin Smith brace and a Derek Riordan goal secured them all three points with ease.

Albion Rovers continued their title celebrations with a 5-1 victory over East Stirlingshire. Two goals from Ally Love were the highlight as Albion prepared for Scottish League One football in style.

Annan Athletic's 4-3 win against Montrose was not enough for them to leapfrog East Fife into a playoff place. Peter Weatherson scored twice in the opening 22 minutes to give Annan a two goal lead, but Ross Campbell scored two late goals to bring the scores level at 3-3. Martin McNiff scored a late winner to secure the points for Annan.

Elsewhere, Arbroath eased to a 5-0 victory over Berwick as they secured third place, and Clyde beat bitter rivals Queen's Park 2-0 at Broadwood Stadium.

Results in full: Annan Athletic 4-3 Montrose, Arbroath 3-0 Berwick, Clyde 2-0 Queen's Park, East Fife 3-1 Elgin, East Stirlingshire 1-5 Albion Rovers
