Scottish League Two roundup: Queen's Park close gap

Queen's Park close the gap on Arbroath at the top of Scotland's League Two, where three points now separate the top three teams.

Queen's Park made up some ground on Arbroath at the top of Scotland's League Two this afternoon, with Allan Moore's men going down 2-1 away at Albion Rovers.

The league leaders went behind to a Marc McKenzie goal on 10 minutes when the Albion midfielder was picked out by Mark McGuigan and hit a right-footed shot towards the bottom left corner of the Arbroath goal.

Scott McBride's free kick levelled proceedings on the half-hour mark, though Albion remained dogged and pinched the win when John Gemmell nodded home from close range.

Queen's Park did not have nearly as much trouble in their away trip to Elgin City, who were beaten 4-1 by the Glasgow club. A Darren Miller penalty on the stroke of the break added to goals from Paul Woods and Shaun Rooney, who netted within minutes of each other halfway though the opening period.

Elgin's Craig Gunn fired one in for the hosts immediately after the restart, though a comeback never really looked likely, and John Carter made sure of that when he added a fourth just after the hour.

Elsewhere, Annan Athletic and Montrose played out a 2-2 draw, and there were narrow wins for East Fife and East Stirlingshire who climbed into the top four and out of the relegation zone respectively.

Results in full: Albion Rovers 2-1 Arbroath, Elgin City 1-4 Queen's Park, Annan Athletic 2-2 Montrose, Berwick 2-3 East Fife, Clyde 0-1 East Stirlingshire
