FIFA announce that four Argentina players will be banned for the final two World Cup 2022 qualifying games after protocols were not followed against Brazil.

FIFA have announced that they have banned four Argentina players for the final two World Cup 2022 qualifying games.

This decision has been made following their fixture against Brazil, which saw the match abandoned due to international match protocols not being followed.

The game ended up being stopped after it had begun as health officials believed that COVID-19 rules were not followed, as the rules at the time demanded that people from the U.K. had to quarantine for 14 days prior to entering the country.

A trio of Premier League stars are involved with Aston Villa stars Emiliano Buendia and Emiliano Martinez being banned alongside Tottenham Hotspur's Cristian Romero, with Giovani Lo Celso also set to miss the games.

Both Argentina and Brazil have already qualified for the 2022 World Cup, which is set to take place in Qatar, but FIFA did hand the Argentine FA a £160,000 fine for failing to comply with obligations.

The four players will now be unavailable for the fixtures against Venezuela and Ecuador.
