Glenn Hoddle tips Argentina for World Cup glory

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle believes that Argentina will triumph at this year's World Cup.

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle has tipped Argentina to win this year's World Cup.

The two-time champions get their Group F campaign up and running against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Sunday before fixtures with Iran and Nigeria.

While admitting that the tournament is "really open", Hoddle believes that the Argentines, who are led by Lionel Messi, are the team to beat in Brazil.

"I think this is a really open tournament. I really don't fancy Brazil to win it – I think their frailties are defensively. I would go for Argentina, but then again they are under pressure every year," he told FIFA.com.

Hoddle's England side were beaten in the last 16 by Argentina when they met at the World Cup in 1998.
