Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that Bayern Munich can "count themselves fortunate" to have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League at Arsenal's expense.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said that Bayern Munich were lucky to come through in their Champions League tie with Arsenal.

The Gunners won 2-0 at the Allianz Arena last night thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny.

However, that was not enough to stop them exiting the competition on the away-goals rule following a 3-1 loss at the Emirates Stadium three weeks ago.

"It was a tough match today, and we can count ourselves fortunate we scored enough goals in London," the club's official website quotes the chairman as saying.

"That's a warning shot across the bows for the Champions League."

Bayern have reached the final of the competition in two of the last three years.
