Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is having weekly scans on his ankle in a bid to be fit for Euro 2012.
The England international is determined to play a part in the Gunners' season in order to prove his fitness in time to be a part of this summer's European Championships.
The Daily Express reports that manager Arsene Wenger is personally overseeing Wilshere's progress and is taking it on a day-to-day basis as the midfielder has endured a number of setbacks this campaign.
Wilshere was not considered fit enough to play in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Birmingham City on Wednesday and it's unclear whether Wenger will deem him ready to turn out for the reserves against Newcastle United on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old hasn't played a game this season after picking up an injury during the Emirates Cup match with New York Red Bulls back in July last year.
