Arsenal assistant Steve Round: 'Club has turned corner under Mikel Arteta'

Arsenal assistant Steve Round claims that the club has "turned the corner" under Mikel Arteta, whom he believes has the potential to be "one of the very best" managers.

Arsenal assistant Steve Round has expressed his belief that the club has "turned the corner" since Mikel Arteta took over.

Arteta replaced sacked compatriot Unai Emery in December and has lost only two of his 16 matches at the helm so far, while the Gunners are unbeaten in the Premier League this calendar year.

The Spaniard is in his first role as head coach, having learned his trade under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and Round believes that he has the potential to be one of the "very, very best".

"It's a fantastic club with a top manager. Hopefully we have turned the corner and we are starting to move forward," Round told the Hartlepool Mail.

"We'd got some momentum going, obviously it's all been put on hold now and we're just waiting to see what happens.

"It's a brilliant club and I'm delighted to work for the manager who I think has got the potential to be one of the very, very best."

Despite their improvement under Arteta, Arsenal remain ninth in the Premier League table with play currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
