Arsene Wenger expecting quiet summer

Arsene Wenger admits that his summer spending plans have been affected by what he has seen from his side's red-hot form in 2015.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that Arsenal's red-hot form in 2015 has 'massively' forced him to reassess his transfer plans in the summer.

The Gunners have won 17 of their 21 games in all competitions this calendar year, with an FA Cup final against Aston Villa also looming large on May 30.

Wenger's side lost five Premier League games in the first half of the campaign, a run of form that appears to have undermined them in the title race.

However, the Frenchman has seen enough since the turn of the year to believe that he is not in need of making wholesale changes during the summer months.

When asked how much his side's resurgence has impacted on his spending plans, he told The Mirror: "Massive changes. Massive.

"Because I believe that some players who were questioned, like Mesut Ozil, have made big improvements in the second part of the season and becomes slowly the leader you want him to be in guiding our game.

"We are not in need of absolute change. We have a strong squad. We have some strong young players behind. We have a big squad now - Lukas Podolski, Joel Campbell, Yaya Sanogo [all forwards currently out on loan] will come back. If you add that to the number of players [we have]..."

Wenger's charges are 16 points behind champions Chelsea, who clinched the title on Sunday.
