Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez explains his situation following the news that manager Mikel Arteta tested positive for coronavirus.

Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has explained his situation since it was revealed that Gunners manager Mikel Arteta had tested positive for coronavirus.

The Spaniard was confirmed to have contracted the virus on Thursday evening, and the Premier League has since postponed all matches until April 3 at the earliest.

However, the Gunners manager has reassured fans that he is on the road to recovery, and Martinez has recently spoken out about the situation.

"We found out about Arteta last night," Martinez told TyC Sports. "We had contact with him the day before and shook his hand normally, and the next day he tested positive.

"We are not allowed to leave the house; it is a government regulation. They gave us a diet from the club, but we are not allowed to leave the house.

"Only the supermarkets are open, but there's no hygiene products. The schools and transport are slowly closing, and by Monday everything will be cancelled."

The Premier League are due to hold an emergency meeting next Thursday to discuss a strategy for the remainder of the season.
