Fabregas backs Wenger to stay

Barcelona playmaker and former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas believes that it would be "strange" if Arsene Wenger left the Gunners.

The Frenchman's job has been under pressure this season following a number of disappointing results, including a 4-0 defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League.

Despite suffering criticism throughout this year's campaign, the North London side managed to renew hopes of reaching the top four after securing a 5-2 victory over arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

"If I can't see Barcelona without Pep [Guardiola], I see Arsenal without Wenger even less," Fabregas told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He has been there for 16 years, he is the only Arsenal coach I have known. It would be strange, very strange to see Arsenal without Wenger.

"I feel sad when I see Arsenal lose. But in football things can change from one day to the next and I am sure that a great club like Arsenal will soon be back on track."

The Gunners take on Liverpool at Anfield this Saturday.
