Brighton & Hove Albion striker Neal Maupay hits out at Arsenal for their reaction following a dramatic 2-1 victory for the Seagulls on Saturday afternoon.

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Neal Maupay has taken aim at Arsenal for their reaction to his side's dramatic 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Having been involved in a first-half collision with Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno, which saw the German leave the field on a stretcher, Maupay netted Brighton's winner deep into added time at the Amex Stadium.

The game was marred by ugly scenes at the final whistle when Maupay was surrounded by incensed Arsenal players, but the Frenchman thinks that the Gunners have a lesson to take home from the match.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Maupay said: "Arsenal players need to learn humility, they were talking a lot when they were 1-0 up and they got what they deserved.

"I never meant to injure him (Leno) so I'm really sorry for him and wish him a speedy recovery.

"At half time I went to the manager Mikel Arteta to apologise. I never meant to injure the keeper. I jumped for the ball. I apologise to the team and to him as well. I have been through a bad injury, it is hard."

Nicolas Pepe opened the scoring for Arteta's side before Lewis Dunk pulled one back for Brighton, and Maupay's injury-time winner gave the Seagulls their first Premier League win of 2020.
