Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal has claimed that the team are in a better state to challenge for the Premier League title as they are playing as more of a "unit".
Arsene Wenger's side finished third in the Premier League last season, but are currently second in this campaign, level on points with leaders Manchester City after 12 games.
"I think the level of the team is better now and I hope we can do something special this season," Monreal told Arsenal Player. "At the moment, everything is right so we need to carry on.
"The secret? I will say that we are playing more compact, like a unit. The players are playing with more solidarity, all players try to defend. I think this is the [reason for] that."
Arsenal have earned eight wins, recorded two draws and two defeats.
