Newcastle United deny an FA charge of failing to control their players.

Newcastle United have confirmed that they will deny a charge of failing to control their players during Saturday's 0-0 draw against Arsenal at St James' Park.

The Football Association issued the charge earlier this evening following a mass brawl which saw Arsenal debutant Gervinho receive a red card.

Arsenal have also been charged by the FA.

The FA had set a deadline of 4pm on Thursday, August 18 for both clubs to respond to the charge.
