Arsenal 14-year-old Max Dowman becomes the youngest player to ever score in a UEFA Youth League match in the Gunners' loss to Atalanta BC.

Fourteen-year-old Arsenal starlet Max Dowman has written his name into the UEFA history books with his goal against Atalanta BC in the Youth League.

Ahead of the senior sides' meeting in the Champions League this evening, Arsenal's Under-19s and Atalanta's Under-19s locked horns in their opening Youth League showdown in Italy.

The Gunners were subjected to a humbling 4-1 defeat on the day, but Dowman bagged a consolation goal in the 49th minute, latching onto a cross from Ismeal Kabia and finding the back of the net.

At just 14 years, eight months and 19 days old, Dowman has become the youngest player to ever score in a UEFA Youth League match, surpassing Youssoufa Moukoko who was 14 years and 11 months when he scored for Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

Dowman - who was born in 2009 - had already broken into Arsenal's Under-18s team last season, scoring two goals and setting up five more in seven Under-18 Premier League matches.

The Englishman, who can play as a number 10, central midfielder or right winger, has already set up one goal in two league games this term, as Arsenal youth manager Mehmet Ali readjusts to life without Chido Obi Martin.

Obi Martin rejected the chance to sign a new deal in the summer, leaving the club as a free agent, but his "very complicated" move to Manchester United is yet to be finalised.
