Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has admitted that Arsene Wenger played a huge part in helping him decide to move to the club.
Ozil left Real Madrid on deadline day to move to the Emirates Stadium, and the Germany international has revealed that the "trust and respect' from his new manager convinced him to make the £42.5m transfer to England.
The 24-year-old told reporters: "The most important thing is that the manager trusts me. That was crucial for me and that is why I came to Arsenal.
"When I talked to Arsene Wenger on the phone, he was full of respect. As a player I need respect and I felt that here.
"I don't want to talk about Real Madrid. The topic is over and I want to look ahead. I will hopefully have wonderful years here and win many trophies."
Ozil is expected to make his debut for the club when they play Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
