Lukas Podolski brands training ground storm reports "pure lies"

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski denies that he stormed out of training in order to force through a loan move away from the club.

Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski has denied that he stormed out of the club's training ground, as claimed in a national newspaper.

Podolski has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in the January window, with Inter Milan reportedly keen on a loan move, and The Mirror has claimed that the German forward withdrew from the squad to play Southampton today in order to force through a deal.

Podolski responded on Twitter by saying: "I try not to comment on stories I see in the papers but when I see something that questions my commitment and love for the club then I must speak up!

"Here The Mirror has tried to make a story out of nothing. I find it incredible that newspapers are allowed to print pure lies to get people's attention.

"In order to 'storm' off the pitch you have to actually be on the pitch in the first place, I spent the whole session inside with the medical staff. It seems it is The Mirror who stormed to the keyboard too quickly."

Podolski has scored 31 goals for Arsenal since joining the club in 2012, but has failed to start a Premier League game this season.
