Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey "ready to go" in Premier League opener against Liverpool

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey insists that he is "ready to go" for Sunday's Premier League opener against Liverpool.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has insisted that he is fit and "ready to go" for the club's Premier League opener against Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday.

The 25-year-old was given an extended break by manager Arsene Wenger after helping Wales reach the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Ramsey's teammates Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny will play no part in this weekend's game as Wenger does not want to rush the trio back following the European Championships.

However, Ramsey is expected to feature after playing in the Gunners' 3-2 win over Manchester City in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.

"It felt good to come in and play the last game before the start of the season," Ramsey told the club's official website. "It's good fitness for us and I felt good to get back out there again. I feel ready to go for Liverpool."

Arsenal head into the new season with injury problems in defence as both Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista are ruled out.
