Bolton Wanderers defender Tim Ream has revealed that Arsenal made an enquiry for him before he decided to sign on at the Reebok Stadium.
The 24-year-old completed a move to Wanderers from New York Red Bulls last month.
However, he has admitted that former Red Bulls teammate Thierry Henry recommended him to Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.
"That's what I was told happened - that Thierry [Henry] spoke to Arsenal about me. Obviously he has great connections there and at other places too," Ream told The Sun.
"There was an enquiry from Arsenal and I think there might have been an offer put in.
"I think it might have been happening while talks were going on at Bolton too."
Ream is expected to make his Bolton debut against Wigan Athletic this afternoon.
