Wojciech Szczesny praises Arsenal defence

Wojciech Szczesny praises his Arsenal teammates for their defensive display during Sunday's win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has praised the team's defensive performance during Sunday's 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners scored inside the opening two minutes at White Hart Lane before successfully withstanding a Spurs bombardment in the second half.

Szczesny has singled out Laureny Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Thomas Vermaelen in particular for the team's triumph over their local rivals.

"We were fantastic defensively," the Poland international told the club's official website. "We scored early so they were always going to dominate the possession, but the two centre-backs were outstanding. Then Thomas Vermaelen came on and we played with three centre-backs. He did well as well."

Arsenal's Premier League campaign resumes on Saturday against fellow title challengers Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
