Robin van Persie has labelled Gabriel Martinelli as the Arsenal young player he is most excited about following a series of eye-catching performances.
Martinelli joined the Gunners this summer from Brazilian side Ituano and has already scored 10 goals for his new club.
When asked during a Twitter question and answer session about the Arsenal youngster he was most excited about, van Persie answered: "Martinelli."
The 18-year-old has been a key part of the squad under new head coach Mikel Arteta and scored perhaps his best goal for the club against Chelsea in a 2-2 draw last month.
Martinelli was also a starter on Thursday night as Arsenal beat Olympiacos 1-0 in Athens in the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie.
An Alexandre Lacazette goal nine minutes from time sealed the win, with the return leg to be played at the Emirates Stadium next Thursday.
