Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has called for the use of video replays to help match officials judge offside decisions in light of the changes to the rules for the new season.
An amendment of the law now means that if a player in an offside position is deemed to have attempted to play the ball or to have impacted on an opponent playing the ball, they will be flagged for interfering with play.
Although Wenger has welcomed the changes, he said that he believes it may now be necessary to introduce video technology for such situations.
"Maybe for me the next step on the video front will be the offside rule - a fourth official looking at offsides," he told reporters.
"The referees are judged on every decision now in the media. It makes sense if we can make it a bit easier for them."
Arsenal begin their Premier League season by hosting West Ham United at the Emirates on Sunday.
