Arsene Wenger points to Arsenal's success in Europe ahead of their match with Tottenham.

Arsene Wenger has pointed to Arsenal's success in Europe in comparison to Tottenham's fortunes ahead of their showdown this weekend.

Harry Redknapp's side have been steadily improving over the past couple of seasons, before last year making their first appearance in the Champions League in almost half a century.

However, following Tottenham's struggle to beat Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League, the Arsenal boss has insisted that his side are the better team.

"At the moment we are in the Champions League for 14 years," he said, after being asked if Spurs had closed the gap. "That is all we can say.

"Tottenham are a good side, I agree, and we have to try to be better – and that is what we try to do."

Spurs, who have a game in hand over their local rivals, are seven spots above the Gunners in the Premier League.
