Arsene Wenger: 'Alexis Sanchez is fully committed'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that Alexis Sanchez will give his all to the club's cause this season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that he has no doubts over Alexis Sanchez's commitment this season despite the lingering uncertainty over his future.

The 28-year-old is in the final 12 months of his current deal with the Gunners and, having thus far failed to agree fresh terms, has been linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer.

Wenger has ruled out the possibility of him leaving, however, turning away interest from the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich with the intent of running down his contract.

Asked if he was confident that Sanchez would continue to give 100% despite the situation, Wenger replied: "Of course. Why not?

"My conviction - and if you look well - it's always in your interests, even if you have a short contract, to do well. And the kind of character he is.

"He is a winner. When he goes on the football pitch, he wants to win. He is a guy who loves football. He has advantages and disadvantages on both sides going into a situation like that.

"When you have made 75 points [last season], your target is to get 10 points more. And with 10 points more, you are in there (the title race)."

Meanwhile, Wenger has admitted that he is undecided on whether to play the Chilean in tomorrow's Community Shield match against Chelsea.
