Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly made plans to make midfielder Jack Wilshere the future captain of the Gunners.
The England international, who returned to the pitch last month following an injury absence of over a year, is believed to be close to signing a new deal at the Emirates and the club's French boss is believed to be keen to give the 20-year-old more responsibility.
It is understood that Wenger wants to give Wilshere the captain's armband within the next two-and-a-half years, according to the Daily Mail.
Defender Thomas Vermaelen was handed the skipper's role when striker Robin van Persie left for Manchester United in the summer.
