Southampton defender Maya Yoshida admits that he is "not satisfied" with his performance against Arsenal and is keen to bounce back against Aston Villa.

Southampton defender Maya Yoshida is determined to overcome his disappointment against Arsenal and help his side defeat Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Japan international made his debut for the Saints at the Emirates last weekend in a game that the Gunners won 6-1.

"In the first half, I played not so good especially as the third goal was my mistake," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"In the second half I began to show my skills of bringing it from the back and I have confidence that I can play in the Premier League.

"It was a challenging game for me to play against Arsenal because they are a very big team."

Yoshida is hopeful of winning over the Southampton supporters with a strong display at St Mary's Stadium on Saturday.

"I was not satisfied, but I could enjoy the game against Arsenal because the Emirates is a great stadium and the opponents were very strong," said the 24-year-old.

"That was my Premier League debut but I am now looking forward to playing at St Mary's on Saturday.

"I want to show my good qualities to the Southampton supporters and this time win the game."

Southampton are currently at foot of the league table, having failed to pick up a single point in their four matches so far.
