Mathieu Flamini own goal gifts point to Swansea City

Mathieu Flamini's own goal in stoppage time denies Arsenal a victory as Swansea City earn a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

An own goal from Mathieu Flamini in stoppage time forced Arsenal to settle for a 2-2 draw against Swansea City at the Emirates Stadium this evening.

The home side started the match on the front foot, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain forcing Michel Vorm into an early save with a firm effort from the edge of the box.

However, it was Swansea who broke the deadlock in the 11th minute when Neil Taylor was given too much space to pick out Wilfried Bony, who powered a header past Wojciech Szczesny.

Swansea looked comfortable after taking the lead, but the Gunners weren't far away from equalising when Per Mertesacker headed into the side-netting.

Another Oxlade-Chamberlain strike followed later in the first half as the England international sliced the ball wide in space just outside the area.

Swansea created the best of the opportunities early in the second half as Jonathan de Guzman created space for himself to find Michu, who could only head the ball over the crossbar after pulling away from his marker.

The visitors were made to pay for that missed chance in the 73rd minute when Lukas Podolski, on as a substitute for Oxlade-Chamberlain, converted from close range following a run and cross from Kieran Gibbs on the left.

Arsenal completed the turnaround with a second goal in as many minutes thanks to Olivier Giroud, who was left with the easy task of tapping in from six yards after Podolski had split the Swansea defence with an inch-perfect delivery.

Swansea were forced onto the front foot in the closing stages as they searched for an equaliser, with Jonjo Shelvey curling an effort just wide.

Despite appearing to be on course for three points, Arsenal were denied the victory in stoppage time when Leon Britton's run into the box resulted in the ball taking a couple of deflections before hitting Flamini on its way into the back of the net.
