A Robin van Persie goal clinched a home victory for Arsenal against Everton this afternoon.
The Gunners had the edge on possession through the first half but failed to break Everton's defence despite a string of corners.
An early opportunity was squandered by Theo Walcott after a quarter of an hour when he opted to set up Gervinho rather than take a shot himself. Gervinho himself passed up an opportunity minutes later when he instead attempted to feed Robin van Persie, who was declared offside.
The deadlock was finally broken after 70 minutes, when captain van Persie delivered in off the far post with a volley.
Although Everton turned to a more offensive approach in the closing stages, the London side held on to earn three points and fourth place in the Premier League table.
