Arsenal are reportedly well-placed to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, but the 21-year-old's injury woes could prove problematic.

Arsenal are reportedly confident about their chances of striking a deal for Borussia Dortmund's Dan-Axel Zagadou this summer.

The 21-year-old has only featured nine times during an injury-plagued Bundesliga campaign, but he has caught the eye with his performances nonetheless.

Having already waved goodbye to Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi, and facing the prospect of losing David Luiz this summer, Arsenal are supposedly intent on bolstering their defensive ranks for the 2021-22 campaign.

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Duncan Castles claimed that Arsenal have been monitoring Zagadou for a while and are ready to make a move for the Dortmund man this summer.

Castles indicated that Mikel Arteta's side could sign the former France Under-21s international for a relatively modest figure of £25.5m, as he is out of contract at Dortmund in 2022 and does not appear to be close to signing a renewal.

Zagadou has made 73 appearances for the Bundesliga side since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, although a longer-than-expected recovery from his recent knee surgery could potentially lead Arsenal to seek out alternatives.
