Arsenal have reportedly decided against pursuing a move for Real Madrid attacker Martin Odegaard during this summer's transfer window.
The 22-year-old spent the second half of the 2020-21 campaign on loan with the Gunners and made a positive impression, scoring twice and providing two assists in 20 appearances.
Mikel Arteta's side were allegedly keen to sign the Norway international on a permanent basis ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
However, according to The Athletic, Arsenal have now dropped their interest, having learned that Odegaard is firmly part of Carlo Ancelotti's plans at the Bernabeu next term.
Had Zinedine Zidane remained in charge of Los Blancos, it seemed unlikely that there would be a spot in the team for Odegaard, but Ancelotti is said to view the attacker as an important player moving forward.
The Norwegian has been with Real Madrid since 2015 but has only actually made 11 first-team appearances for the capital giants, spending time out on loan with Heerenveen, Vitesse, Real Sociedad and Arsenal.
