Arsenal are reportedly in the market for a box-to-box midfielder and a new defender during the January transfer window.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has admitted that he is not expecting any major signings this month, although reports have suggested that the club could look at potential loan deals rather than permanent transfers.
The Telegraph claims that a new midfielder and defender are at the top of Arsenal's wishlist as Arteta looks to bolster his squad following a poor first half of the season.
Arsenal are particularly short at centre-back following a long-term injury to Calum Chambers, while Konstantinos Mavropanos and Shkodran Mustafi are understood to be free to leave the club this month.
The Gunners spent heavily during the summer, but mainly on attacking talent including club-record signing Nicolas Pepe.
The knock-on effect is that they do not have as much to invest in the squad in January, but they have still been linked with the likes of Samuel Umtiti, Jean-Clair Todibo, Jerome Boateng and Boubakary Soumare.
