Arsenal 'open to Mathieu Debuchy offers'

Arsenal are reportedly ready to listen to any offers for Mathieu Debuchy, but would prefer to send the right-back out on loan.

Arsenal are reportedly ready to listen to any offers for out-of-favour right-back Mathieu Debuchy during the January transfer window.

Debuchy has not started a match for the Gunners since November and was left out of the squad entirely for recent games against Manchester City, Southampton and Newcastle United over the festive period.

Manager Arsene Wenger recently hinted that a January move would be possible for the 30-year-old, who has fallen behind Hector Bellerin in the Arsenal pecking order.

However, the Evening Standard reports that the Premier League leaders would prefer to loan the defender out rather than sell him permanently due to the lack of cover beyond Calum Chambers should Bellerin get injured.

The report goes on to claim that Arsenal would demand a loan fee of around £1m, in addition to an option to recall, if they were to allow the former Newcastle man to leave on a temporary basis.

Debuchy, who is eager for first-team football to aid his Euro 2016 hopes this summer, has been linked with moves to Roma, West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa.
