Arsenal are reportedly keen to secure a loan deal for Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi before the end of the January transfer window.

Arsenal have reportedly decided to try to sign Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi before the end of the month.

Unai Emery is struggling for numbers in defence due to a succession of injuries, and the Gunners boss is desperate to add to his backline during the January window.

The North London outfit will be without Hector Bellerin for the rest of the season, and according to El Desmarque, that has led to Arsenal moving for Mandi.

The report suggests that Emery wants to sign the versatile player on a loan deal with the possibility of a £26m transfer being pushed through in the summer.

Mandi has made a total of 27 starts for Betis in all competitions this season, while the Algerian still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract.
