Arsenal reportedly make an improved bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Daniel Bentley, despite adding a stopper to their ranks last week.

Arsenal are reportedly still keen to wrap up a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.

The number-one position at the Emirates Stadium has been a constant topic for debate over the past 12 months with David Raya replacing Aaron Ramsdale.

As it stands, that remains the current pecking order, with Arsenal yet to receive a suitable offer to allow Ramsdale to depart the club.

Nevertheless, there have been several developments below the top two, with Karl Hein initially extending his contract with the Gunners.

In recent days, Tommy Setford has been signed from Ajax, the 18-year-old stated as linking up with the club's academy system for the time being.

With that in mind, it appears that Arteta is still eager to add another experienced backup option to his senior ranks as soon as possible.

Improved offer made for Bentley

Earlier this month, Arsenal made an effort to sign Bentley from Wolves, partly due to his previous affinity with the club.

Although that was rejected, The Sun claims that Arsenal have since improved their bid to £300,000 in a bid to tempt Wolves into a sale.

The West Midlands outfit have since turned down the second approach, with the report adding that they want to recoup in the region of £1m.

While Arsenal may not be prepared to go that high, it is suggested that a compromise may be reached in due course.

Why Bentley will be attracted to Arsenal move

Bentley will be lowering his chances of first-team football if he goes from chief deputy at Wolves to third choice at Arsenal.

That said, the 31-year-old was born in Basildon, represented Arsenal's youth sides between 2001 and 2008 and spent a further eight years at Southend United.

Brentford, another London-based side, was his next destination, and the chance to return closer to home may be too difficult to turn down when he has only made seven appearances for Wolves across an 18-month period.

Previous reports have indicated that Wolves value Bentley's presence in the dressing room, making it less of a formality when it comes to agreeing terms.
