Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a cut-price move for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
The Gunners were strongly linked with a swoop for the 20-year-old during the summer transfer window but ultimately signed both William Saliba and David Luiz to improve their defence.
Saliba remained on loan with Saint-Etienne, though, while Luiz has flattered to deceive since making the move to the Emirates Stadium from Chelsea ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
Upamecano's current deal with Leipzig will expire at the end of next season, and it has recently been reported that the release clause in the centre-back's deal will drop to £53m next summer.
According to The Sun, Arsenal are considering launching a £40m offer either in January or at the end of the season in a bid to convince the German club to sell.
Upamecano has only made four Bundesliga appearances this season as he battles back from the knee injury that forced him to miss the second half of the 2018-19 campaign.
