Arsenal are reportedly keen to reach an agreement with Mesut Ozil over mutually terminating his contract.
While the playmaker still has just under 11 months remaining on his existing deal, he does not feature in Mikel Arteta's plans for next season.
That leaves Ozil in a position where he is unlikely to be provided with any first-team action and Arsenal shelling out close to £18m on a player they have no intention of keeping past 2021.
According to The Mirror, club officials are keen to reach a compromise with the 31-year-old over the coming weeks.
The report claims that Arsenal's hierarchy are prepared to pay at least a large portion of Ozil's income to increase the chances of the German finding a new club.
The development comes at a time when the North London outfit are being heavily linked with moves for Willian and Philippe Coutinho.
