Arsenal are reportedly contemplating whether to step up their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal may reportedly step up their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have, so far, managed to handle any selection issues in the centre of the pitch, establishing an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League standings.

That effort was aided by Mikel Arteta signing Jorginho from Chelsea in January, the Italy international effectively taking the place of the injured Mohamed Elneny.

However, ahead of their return to the Champions League next season, it is accepted by those associated with Arsenal that they must reinforce their options in the middle of the pitch.

As it stands, the North Londoners allegedly have a number of players on their shortlist, including West Ham United's Declan Rice who will cost at least £80m.

According to Sky Sports Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg, another Arsenal target Sow has signalled his intent to take on a new challenge in the summer.

A report from Bild at the end of last year indicated that Arsenal were monitoring any developments with the player.

Now, it is claimed that Sow has indicated to Frankfurt that he has no intention of extending his contract past the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

That realistically leaves Frankfurt in a position where they will have to consider offers for the 26-year-old during the next transfer window.

Plettenburg adds that the Bundesliga outfit may be prepared to accept offers in the region of €15m (£13.2m), a price tag that will naturally interest teams around Europe.

The Switzerland international has been a regular for Frankfurt this season, making 34 starts and three substitute outings in all competitions. and chipping in with three goals.

Furthermore, Sow started each of Switzerland's four fixtures at the 2022 World Cup, taking him to 36 caps for his country.

In total, Sow has contributed seven goals and 13 assists from 151 appearances for Frankfurt, who he joined from Young Boys in 2019.
