Arsenal manager Unai Emery has reportedly urged the club to go all out to sign Ever Banega from Sevilla to compensate for the impending loss of Aaron Ramsey.
The Gunners are prepared to cut ties with the long-serving Welsh midfielder in the New Year after supposedly withdrawing their offer of a four-year deal.
Ramsey was happy to stay on at the Emirates Stadium, but The Sun suggests that Emery feels the money being spent on renewing the 27-year-old's contract could be better used.
Arsenal will now instead look to cash in on Ramsey in January, before tabling a bid for Banega - who Emery knows from his time at Valencia and Sevilla - in the summer window.
Banega has recently played down talk of an exit from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but Arsenal hope to tempt him with a bigger salary.
